Engine & Performance
This new model bike comes with a first-ever high-performance VVA system that offers torque for ease of use even at low RPM. It has two intake valve cams one for low- to mid-range rpm and another for high rpm. They shift between each other at the 7,400 rpm mark to maintain good power.
The new Yamaha MT-15 is well equipped with an engine that offers 58.0 X 58.7 mm bore X stroke and an 11.6:1 compression ratio generating a maximum output of 14.2 kW (19.3 PS) at 10,000 rpm and maximum torque of 14.7 N.m (1.5 kgf.m) at 8,500 rpm. The new MT-15 offers the ideal balance of agile acceleration, agile handling and advanced design for the younger generations who are looking for smooth acceleration and a feeling of maximum torque.
Yamaha MT 15 has an A&S clutch to reduce the weight of the clutch pull and to provide low-stress shifting during deceleration. This advanced feature helps to reduce exhaustion for the rider and also prevents excessive engine braking, thus, making smooth and enjoyable downshifts.
The MT 15 is well equipped with 6-speed gear transmission which allows tripping at low RPM even in higher gears, thus saving the fuel consumption. Additional new features include a new Delta box frame with an excellent rigidity balance. Yamaha MT-15 has all digital instrumental cluster with inverted negative display. It includes tachometer, speedometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, time, gear shift indicator, fuel consumption indicator, average fuel consumption, and shift light indicator. The single-channel ABS also helps the front wheel from locking while applying the brakes.
The newly introduced bike is alluringly designed and has a minimum ground clearance of 155 mm with a weight of 138 kg. The new Yamaha MT-15 is inbuilt with a bypass type thermostat for the cooling system and is equipped with a muffler with 3-stage expansion chamber for clear sound at top RPM. The rear wheel is designed in such a way that it provides a good balance during riding.
