Yamaha’s upcoming middleweight, fully-featured Supersport bike, all-new Yamaha R7, has finally made its global debut, while its images were leaked online a few days ago. The bike enthusiasts got to have a good look at the design and features of the most awaited model beforehand.
The Yamaha R7 will be available for purchase from June 2021 and is priced at $8,999.
Yamaha R7 Overview
Yamaha Bikes are one of the most popular bikes in Nepal due to their durability, performance, and fuel efficiency. Yamaha discontinued the production of R6, and the bike was only produced in limited numbers, especially for track use. When Yamaha trademarked the YZF-R7 name, it confirmed all the rumors speculating about the production of R7. Yamaha R6 will now be replaced by the Yamaha R7.
The all-new Yamaha R7 was known to be made a long time ago when the company took a trademark for the name. The bike has an aggressive supersport design and all the elements to match up with the standard YZF-R models.
Design and Features
Yamaha R7 has a unique single-pod bi-functional LED headlight, not the typical twin-pod featured in the R6 model, along with twin LED DRLs on both sides. But the iconic R-series M-shaped center space on the front headlight gives it a twin-beam look. The bike also has a taller height and wider windscreen than the older R6 model.
The new Yamaha R7 has a muscular fuel tank with a signature grille pattern that complements the aerodynamic quality of the bike and its flaunt lines. The rear section gets the same R-series type look with a sharp edge and upright tail design.
Moreover, the bike has a sleek R-series style, slim body for optimal aerodynamics, handling, and agility. The all-new digital full-LCD instrument console provides all the vehicle information like gear position, fuel gauge, real-time and average fuel economy, clock, and more.
Power and Performance
Yamaha R7 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC inline twin-cylinder, 4-valves per cylinder with a displacement of 689cc. This engine generates a maximum power output of 73 bhp at 8750 rpm and a peak torque of 67 Nm at 6500 rpm. The fuel delivery system is Fuel Injection (FI) system which provides excellent mileage and superior performance.
Moreover, the Yamaha R7 is equipped with a 6-speed transmission gearbox and features a new exhaust system. The bike has a Bore by Stoke ratio of 80 mm by 68.6 mm and a compression ratio of 11.5:1. Moreover, there is a multi-plate wet clutch with assist and slipper clutch.
The fuel tank capacity of Yamaha R7 is 12.8 liters and provides a mileage of about 24.66 km per liter.
Brake and Tires
Hydraulic disc brakes of sizes 298 mm and 245 mm handle the braking on the Yamaha R7, front, and rear, respectively. Similarly, the suspensions are taken care of by Telescopic fork; 5.1-in travel, adjustable for preload, rebound, and compression, on the front and Linked-type Monocross shock, adjustable preload and rebound, on the rear.
The tires on the all-new Yamaha R7 are from Bridgestone BATTLAX HYPERSPORT S22F E of front size 120/70 ZR 17 and rear size 180/55 ZR 17. The dimension on the bike is 2070 mm in length, 706 mm in width, 1161 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 1394 mm. The bike has a seat height of 835 mm, 135 mm of ground clearance, and kerb weight of 188 kg.
