We have not seen off-road bikes from Yamaha in recent years. This time Yamaha has come up with an entry-level off-roader to show its presence in the market. The XTZ125 is a dual-purpose bike which means it can be used both as an on-road and off-road bike for commuting purpose. It designed to be a lightweight making it perfect for beginners who want to learn bike riding, hence it’s a nice learner machine for the beginners.

Engine and Performance
Yamaha XTZ 125, the new dual-purpose bike in the town has a 124cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder (SOHC) engine which produces an extreme power of 10.2 PS @ 7500 rpm and a torque 9.9 Nm @ 5500 rpm. The carbureted motorcycle is mated to a five-speed transmission box. This small capacity dual-purpose bike is equipped with both auto start and kick start system.
The bike comes with 35mm front forks and an adjustable rear monoshock to offer a comfortable riding. Disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear provide enhanced braking performance. 21-inch spoke wheel at the front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear provides enhanced off-road performance.
Yamaha XTZ 125 has a kerb weight of 118KG, which is a lightweight as compared to other off-road motorcycles in Nepal but has an impressive ground clearance of 260mm which is idle for off roads of Nepal.
Design and Features
Speaking about the design and features of Yamaha XTZ125, the bike has a very simple design and is comparatively lighter than other dirt bikes. The fuel tank is made up of metal and has a plastic bikini fender on both sides making it further attractive. The Yamaha XTZ 125 has a new design as compared to other off-road models from Yamaha.
The new model dirt bike features bigger tires that provide better gripping, a halogen headlamp for better vision, front disc brakes for enhanced braking performance and attractive plastic panels to give sporty designs on the sides.
Yamaha XTZ features an underside to protect the engine from stones and mud. The instrument cluster has a speedometer and trip meter to provide the information to the rider during the trip. The bike comes with a wide and cushioned seat to ensure smooth riding for the rider.
Front fairing has a new off-road design to make it unique. Talking further about the features, The Yamaha XTZ 125 features both kick and electric start and lock switch. Tires up to mark for completing off-road action, they are bigger in size and more stable than other dirt bikes on the competition. The new off-road bike has a more comfortable seat and riding position. The engine is powerful and operates with precision.
The riding position of XTZ125 is straight upright and identical to other dirt bikes in the market. The handlebar and the seat are perfectly positioned for better and easy handling. The handlebar of the motorcycle is placed higher than the rider seat. Speaking about the colors, Yamaha XTZ is available in three colors, blue, black and white.
Brakes and Tyres
Coming to the braking system, the braking duties of XTZ 125 are handled by the 240mm hydraulic disk brake in the front wheel. The rear wheel comes has 130mm drum brake. It has 80/90-21 M/C 48S front tire and 110/80-18 M/C 58S rear tire. Bigger tire offers better grip and control while riding on the rough surfaces.
Fuel Efficiency
The dual-purpose bike, Yamaha XTZ 125 has a fuel tank that can hold 11 liters of fuel and gives a decent mileage of 40kmpl. The mileage is different for an on-road and off-road drive. For off-road drive, mileage is comparatively less than that of an on-road drive.
