Kia recently revealed the all-new EV6, Kia’s first electric vehicle. The new e-vehicle is built on the same platform as the recently unveiled Hyundai Ioniq 5, making it the second model built on Hyundai’s shared platform.
Kia shared a teaser of the entire electric EV6 through various silhouetted pictures and few videos that revealed the vehicle’s design. Let’s take a look at some of the design and features of the SUV.
Design and Features
The Kia EV6 seems to be a 5-seater, 4-door full-electric SUV. The vehicle has a futuristic design with noticeable creases on the front bonnet flowing through a sharp roofline that bends to provide a ducktail-shaped spoiler.
The front design lacks the signature tiger-nose grille, which was featured on their internal combustion engine. The teaser shares an LED Headlamp and tail lamps along with the slogan of the brand, “Movement that inspires.”
The angular headlamp is set on the curved bonnet, whereas the slim taillamp runs through the entire rear end and meets the L-shaped orange lights on both sides.
The panoramic dual 12.3-inch curved displays provide a High-definition (HD). The vehicle also has an impressive towing capacity of 1600 kg, which can be a plus point for outdoor adventure.
Engine and Performance
The teaser of the EV6 didn’t share any information about the power and battery specifications. The SUV is expected to have a high-capacity battery pack which provides a range of about 510 km on the total charge. The SUV also features a 4.5-minutes ultra-fast charging option which gives a 100 km of driving range. It takes less than 18 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%.
The EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated Electric Vehicle built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This allows the SUV to have a flat floor which enables diverse interior layouts.
Similar to the Ioniq 5, the EV6 might also have the same 77.4-kWh battery with an operating voltage of 800 volts. The EV6 is equipped with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which means that the vehicle can function as a portable electricity supply for your daily use.
The Kia EV6 features a new Augmented Reality (AR) head-up display on the windshield to guide you to the destination. It provides high performance as it can go from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 3.5 seconds.
The seats are made from recycled PETs, high-quality vegan leather or suede. It can be an emergency power source for your home, which can supply up to 3.6 kW of electricity. The 2.9m wheelbase provides a cabin space similar to mid to large SUVs providing spacious room for you and your passenger.
The EV6 is released with limited display and design with various features still unknown. We will update you with more specifications and features once the company launches the vehicle officially.
