The Proton Saga is officially launched in Nepal. The Proton Cars’ authorized distributor in Nepal, Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd., has finally launched the Proton’s first Sedan. Proton has expanded its global market after the launch of the Saga. 

The Saga is available in two variants with a price of Rs. 35.55 lakhs for the standard MT and Rs. 39.5 lakhs for the Premium MT.

Proton Saga Overview

The Proton Saga is similar in features, performances, and design compared to the version released in Malaysia with an upgraded air-conditioning system with airflow direction controls and a heater. 

Engine and Performance

The new Proton Saga is powered by a 1.3L VVT 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1299cc. The engine’s maximum power is 91 PS at 5750 rpm, which is relatively low, and the peak torque is 117 Nm at 4000 rpm. The SUV is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox transmission, depending upon the variant.

The fuel tank capacity of the Proton Saga is 40 liters with 18.51 km per liter mileage.

Exterior and Interior Features

The Proton Saga comes with a supreme style with an eye-catching exterior and an eye-pleasing interior. The new refined looks match the recognized taste and modern, clean lines that complement every personal style. 

The new front bumper and infinite weave grille add grand statements on the road, and the rear bumper and spoiler add unique designs to the rear. The SUV includes new LED Daytime Running Lamps but is only available in the Premium AT variant. 

Proton saga also features a bee-sting antenna that receives the signals correctly. It consists of luxurious headlining and foldable assist grips, which adds a touch of class and convenience. Also, the new upholstery adds more comfort to the stylish seat. 

The center panel is eye-catching and is designed with essential buttons conveniently located within easy reach.

Safety Features

Proton saga has not made any exceptions in safety, guaranteeing the improved NVH, braking performance, and enhanced body control to provide super stability. Other safety features of the new Sedan include:

Brakes and Suspension

Ventilated Disc handles the vehicle’s braking on the front, and the rear end has Drum braking. The Sedan gets the MacPherson Strut Suspension with a stabilizer bar on the front and a Torsion beam axle on the rear end. 

The Saga tires are 185/60 R14 with Steel wheels on all four tires with alloy wheels options in AT versions. It has a Hydraulic Power Steering on all variants. 

The vehicle has a 4331mm length dimension, 1689mm width, and 1491mm height with a wheelbase of 2465mm and 1055 kg kerb weight

Proton Saga Price in Nepal and Availability

The Proton Saga price starts at Rs. 35.5 lakhs for the Standard MT variant and Rs. 39.5 lakhs for the Premium MT variant. Proton has provided all the features that the price can offer. But the Sedan doesn’t seem to manage a market dominated by SUVs. 

The Proton Saga is currently available in the Proton Nepal showroom.
